The Presbyterian Church of King City
On June 1 1913, the Presbyterians met to consider two church plans. The "Charleston" plan was accepted and the cornerstone was laid on June 1, 1913. The total cost was $18,000. The church was dedicated on June 14, 1914, debt free. The original stain glass windows are still in place in the sanctuary and in the upstairs classrooms. The windows were resoldered in 1993.
The rains of 1993 caused a great deal of damage to the sanctuary and the basement. A complete restoration of the roof, the exterior and the interior walls was finished in the late 1990's. Central air conditioning was installed in 1997. The church added a chair lift to facilitate those who have difficulty with stairs.
The organ was purchased in 1960. The chimes were dedicated in 1961. The vaulted ceilings and modern sound system create a moving experience for the music enthusiast.
